RISHIKESH MONUMENTS
Attractions of Rishikesh are manifold.
Tourists who come here have different interests
that can vary wildly from trekking, pilgrimage,
white water rafting and even treatment. At Rishikesh,
you can enjoy the wild fury of nature as well
as its serene and scenic beauty. The place is
very much associated with the Hindu mythology
and thousands come here for pilgrimage. Rishikesh
is also famous for the sadhus (saints) and people
come here to learn Yoga from them. Today it is
universally accepted that Yoga is a great alternative
therapy. Thousands of people come here to practice
this healing art.
Lakshman
Jhula and Ram Jhula: Built in the year
1939, Lakshman Jhula has turned out to be the
chief attraction of Rishikesh. The bridge is made
of iron but it is completely suspended. If you
walk in the middle of the bridge you will find
the bridge swaying mildly. You can not simply
ignore the beauty of the surroundings. There is
also another similar suspended bridge called Ram
Jhula. These two beautiful suspended bridges are
two hot destination in Rishikesh.

Neelkanth Mahadev:
Neelkanth is situated at a height of 1675 m, on
a hill above Swarg Ashram, Neelkanth Mahadev is
one of the most revered temples of Rishikesh.
Mythology says that in the ancient times when
the ocean was being churned for 'amrit' (Potion
for immortality), first venom oozed out. Lord
Shiva drank the venom at a place which is now
called Nilkanth Mahadeo. It is 12 kms (by Transport
Service) & 24 Km. (by own Vehicle) from Rishikesh
and is surrounded by peaceful forests.
Rishikund: Close to Trivenighat is the
most anciant place, the rishikund. Anciant records
relate this to Kubz Saint , who was blessed by
the Goddess Yamuna by saturating this pond by
its water.The pond reflects the temple of Ragunath
, deicated to lord rama and his wife.
Triveni
Ghat : On the bank of river Ganga, hundreds
of people come here every day to take a dip in
the holy river. The gentle murmur of the river
is very fascinating. In the evening you will find
thousands to people sitting on the bank to watch
the religious function called "Arati"
conducted during evening every day. The place
is peace personified. You will not even notice
when it has become dark. Time will seem to fly
past you.
Geeta Bhawan :One
of the oldest temple complex in the area. The famous
Indian epic Ramayana and Mahabharta are described
here on the walls.

Parmarth Niketan:One of the most renowned
temple complex and ashram in the area . Known
for its substaintial work on hinduism, three is
a school run on tradtional Indian Patterns. The
ashram organises ecellent Ganga Arti and Hawan
on the Parmarth Ghat every evening.
Transcendental Centre of
Maharishi Mahesh Yogi:Situated on the
extreme end of Geeta Bhawan area , Marishi's TM
centre is situated in the pecaeful forest area.
Once the most active branch has nothing much to
offer to the visitors today.
Vasistha Goofa:
One hour drive from Rishikesh up river is situated
Vasishtha Goofa , where famous saint vasishtha
meditaed on the banks of the Ganges. The cave
is very peaceful and is a perfect place for meditation.
