MOUNT ABU PLACES
Nakii Lake: This
small but magnificent lake, surrounded by the
green hills is a pleasant and unique center of
attraction. The lake is so called after the belief
that a sage named Balam Rasiya dug it out with
his nails (nakh) and that’s why in the beginning
it was called ‘Nakhi Lake’ and later
it became famous by the name ‘nakki Lake’.
Obviously therefore it is also a holy place for
hindu pilgrims and is as sacred as the Ganga and
with the same belief people take bath in it. The
lake das picturesque environs of rows of tall,
beautiful trees and hills around it.
Hony Moon point:
On the northwest of the nakki lake, near by the
old gateway to abu is anadra point named after
village anadra. This place is at the height of
4,000 feet. From here the magnificent grandeur
of the setting sun can be witnessed. Near is a
lovers – rock, (Hony-moon point) an attractive
point for the visitor for it being in the natural
creation in the shape of a man and a woman. For
the newly-married couples, this is really a place
full of charm. That’s why many visitors
come just to celebrate ‘Honey Moon’
at Mt. Abu and thus called Honeymoon point. It
provides a serene aura with a pleasant view of
the verdant valley and plains. It looks especially
beautiful during the sun set hour.
Toad Rock: Abu
abounds in grotesquely shaped rocks, which often
resemble animals and even on occasion human beings.
As such protrusion, overhanging the south of Nakki
Lake is the famous toad rock. Its shape resembles
a giant toad over looking the lake. Naturally,
most tourists pose before it. From here the beautiful
and fine view of the whole valley looks very fine.
Cave: This cave
is little away from mandakini kund upon hillside.
It is like a masonry building and is fairly good.
Sages and saints stay here. This place is pleasant
beautiful and suitable.
Guru Shikhar: the
loftiest peak of aravali hills is about 15 kms
from Abu. To climb this peak there is a pakka-road
on which vehicle can also run. This summit is
5653 feet high above sea level and 400 feet higher
than any other peak on abu. Here is the temple
of swami Dattatreya, an incarnation of lord Vishnu.
Om Shanti Bhawan:
it was founded in 1983 and situated near pandav
bhawan H.Q. of Brahma Kumari’s world spiritual
university. It contains a art gallery, spritual
museum, ovalshaped Raj Yoga Meditation room along
with Universal peace hall. This is the first biggest
hall in the state, 3rd in the country and 5th
in the Asia. The roof of this hall is supported
without any pillar. It has a sitting capacity
of 3 to 4 thousand and video system. Here conferences
are held every year in February.
